STAYING HEALTHY: 4 BASIC TIPS

As humans, staying healthy is one of the most important things we strive for. This is primarily due to the fact that carrying out our daily activities requires our bodies to be able to take us through the day. Hence, without optimum health, our bodies cannot perform that which they are tasked to.

We all have different bodies and how we take care of them. However, there are four simple things we can all do to ensure our bodies are taken care of properly. They are:

DRINKING WATER REGULARLY. As we go through the day, our bodies tend to lose water through sweat and urine. Therefore, we need to replenish lost water by, you guessed it, taking in water. Drinking water also helps to relieve headaches and tiredness we may experience from dehydration. It is recommended that we take in 2 litres of water a day.

EXERCISE. The average human being should be able to factor in at least 30 minutes exercise 3 days a week. Exercise keeps your mind alert and your body strong. It also helps to keep blood flowing through your body as well as keep your immune system strong. Basic exercises include brisk walking, jogging, jumping jacks, planks and push-ups.

EATING AT THE RIGHT TIMES. Just as food is essential to our bodies and provides us with the energy to go through our days, eating at the right times helps our bodies to perform at its peak. The average human being should have 3 meals per day. The right times for these meals are 6 am – 8 am for breakfast, 12 noon – 1 pm for lunch and 4 pm – 6 pm for dinner. Keeping to these times will not only allow your body to be able to fully digest meals and help prevent overeating and cravings for snacks, it will also help your body burn fat throughout the day as your metabolism will be functioning at optimum level.

GETTING ENOUGH REST OR SLEEP. Our bodies are like machines; without allowing then to “cool off”, they will “overheat”. Having about 6-8 hours of sleep helps the body to reset and prepare for the next day. It also allows your body to heal from the wear and tear our bodies may go through during the day.

Just to sign off, please stay safe during this pandemic. Don’t forget to wash your hands, stay home as much as you can and work from home, IF you can. Your life is important.
